What is it used for?
TADALAFIL is used for the treatment of male erection problems. It is also currently undergoing Phase 3 of clinical trials for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
What should I discuss with my physician prior to taking this medicine?
Please do tell your physician if you have any of the following conditions:
- eye or vision problems, including a rare inherited eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa
- heart disease, angina, a history of heart attacks, irregular heartbeat, or other heart problems
- abnormal blood pressure
- kidney or liver diseases
- strokes
- an unusual or allergic reaction to tadalafil, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
How is this medicine should be taken?
Take it orally accompanied with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food. The dose should normally be taken 30 to 60 minutes prior to the planned sexual activity. The dose should only be taken once a day; never take more than a single dose daily. You should never take this medicine more often than prescribed.
Overdosage: If you suspect an overdosage, get in touch with the nearest poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTE: This medicine is only intended for your use. You should never share it with the others.
What to do if I missed a dose?
If you missed a dose, it may be taken as soon as you remembered about it. Please never take more than a single dose daily though.
What are the possible interactions with the other medicine/food/etc?
This medicine should never be taken with any of the following drugs:
- nitrates like amyl nitrite, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, nitroglycerin
It may also trigger possible interactions with the following:
- certain drugs for high blood pressure
- certain drugs for the treatment of HIV infection or AIDS
- certain drugs used for fungal or yeast infections, like fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, and voriconazole
- certain drugs used for seizures like carbamazepine, phenytoin, and phenobarbital
- grapefruit juice
- macrolide antibiotics like clarithromycin, erythromycin, troleandomycin
- medicines for prostate problems
- rifabutin, rifampin or rifapentine
This list is not all-inclusive. Provide your health care provider with a list of all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you use. Also tell them whether you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some of those items may also interact with your medicine.
Is there anything I should pay attention to while taking it?
If there are any noticeable changes in your vision after you started taking this drug, inform your doctor or health care professional at once. Stop the treatment course and inform your health care provider at once if you are experiencing a loss of sight for one or both eyes.
Contact you physician right away if the erection lasts for over 4 hours or if it becomes painful at any point. Those may signify serious problems and have to be treated straightaway to prevent permanent damage to your health.
If you are experiencing nausea or dizziness symptoms, chest pains or arm pains after starting sexual activity after you have taken this medicine, you should stop any activity and call your physician right away.
You shouldn’t drink alcohol excessively (for instance, 5 wine glasses or 5 whiskey shots) during the treatment course. When consumed excessively, alcohol may increase your chances of having a headache or getting dizzy by lowering your blood pressure or increasing your heartbeat rate.
This medicine usage does not protect you and your partner from HIV infection (the virus causing AIDS) or any other sexually transmitted diseases.
Does this medicine have any possible side effects?
The following side effects should be reported to your doctor or health care professional as soon as they are noticed:
- allergic reactions like skin rashes, itching or hives, face, lips, or tongue swelling
- issues with breathing
- altered hearing
- chest pains
- fast irregular heartbeat
The side effects listed below usually do not necessarily require any medical attention (please do report them to your physician if they are recurrent or bothersome):
- back pains
- dizziness
- flushing
- headaches
- digestion issues
- muscle aches
- stuffy or runny nose
Other side effects are also possible, the above list is not all inclusive.
Where should I store it?
Keep this medicine out of the children’s reach.
This medicine should be stored at the room temperatures between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Dispose of any unused medicine after the expiry date is reached.
